چکیده

We consider the uplink reachback problem in sensor networks where the receiver is equipped with multiple antennas and linear multiuser detectors. Three medium access control (MAC) schemes are analyzed: round-robin, maximumthroughput scheduling and slotted ALOHA. We optimize the average number of transmissions per slot and the transmission power for two purposes: maximizing the throughput, or minimizing the effective energy (the average energy consumption per successfully received packet) subject to a throughput constraint. By comparing the optimal performance of different MAC schemes equipped with different detectors, we draw important tradeoffs involved in the sensor network design.

Multi-channel Medium Access Control Protocols for Wireless Sensor Networks: A Survey

Extensive researches on Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have been performed and many techniques have been developed for the data link (MAC) layer. Most of them assume single-channel MAC protocols. In the usual dense deployment of the sensor networks, single-channel MAC protocols may be deficient because of radio collisions and limited bandwidth. Hence, using multiple channels can significantly ...

Representing a Model for Improving Connectivity and Power Dissipation in Wireless Networks Using Mobile Sensors

Wireless sensor networks are often located in areas where access to them is difficult or dangerous. Today, in wireless sensor networks, cluster-based routing protocols by dividing sensor nodes into distinct clusters and selecting local head-clusters to combine and send information of each cluster to the base station and balanced energy consumption by network nodes, get the best performance ...

Design Considerations for Medium Access Control in Wireless Sensor Networks

In this paper, we address the design problem of throughput and energy-efficient Medium Access Control (MAC) in wireless sensor networks. First, we assume a static network model with a fixed assignment of disjoint transmitter and receiver node groups. To obtain reliable channel feedback in multi-destination sensor networks, we propose the Group TDMA algorithm to separate in time distinct transmi...
